Bible School for the Nations
A Journey Through the Old and New Testaments
In BSN we study the Bible chronologically within its historical and literary context with an emphasis on interaction and application. You will develop skills that will help you approach difficult passages and answer hard questions in the Bible. We will also compile a timeline of key Bible stories that together outline the story of the Bible.
As we study through the Bible, you will learn about the Kingdom of God, God’s nature and character, His purposes throughout history and His interaction with people and nations. We will examine the central message of the gospel and the Christian life, while discovering practical principles of leadership and government. Understanding these universal principles is essential to partnering with God in His plan to bring transformation and freedom to individuals, communities and nations.
Training Effective Communicators
In the BSN, you will be equipped to teach and communicate God’s Word. Throughout the course, you will practice different practical techniques with the coaching and encouragement of your staff.
There will be assignments in storytelling, teaching and leading small group discussion. This will help you develop your ability to deliver a message, to ask good discussion questions and to help you develop learning exercises that help others understand the Bible. You will be prepared to share God’s truth with any audience –from Norwegian youth groups to Himalayan church plants to groups of African pastors around a cooking fire.
Local and Global Ministry
Throughout the lecture phase, you will apply and share what you are learning through weekly local outreach in our community. The purpose for local outreach is to invest in the area of Kristiansand. Following the lecture phase,we have an eight-week global outreach. This outreach is essential to the BSN training because it brings together everything you have learned in the lecture phase and allows you to use it in a cross-cultural setting.
During the global outreach you will grow in team-building and leadership skills. You will also gain valuable experience in conducting and teaching in a Bible seminar in a cross-cultural setting. Our outreach teams work alongside YWAM’s BELT (Biblical Education & Leadership Training) ministry. BELT conducts courses for community and church leaders with limited access to biblical training, frequently partnering with Wycliffe Bible Translators to train indigenous leaders after the translation of New Testaments (see http://www.ywambelt.org).
The Bible School for the Nations further equips YWAMers to disciple communities and nations from a Biblical perspective. The intended outcome is to see ministries pioneered in all the regions of the world in need of Biblical training.
