The teaching
DTS is known for teaching which brings God’s freedom from the chains in our lives and lets Him transform us so that we are living in the new, free and full life He has for us.
You will be changed for life!
Each week of the teaching phase has different themes and different teachers. Some of the teachers come from our base, and others we bring in from outside, so that you get a good mixture of people, backgrounds and teaching styles. One thing they all have in common is that they are relying on the Holy Spirit to make the teaching become alive and that they not only believe what they teach but are living it!

Topics for Autumn 2009:
Gods Character and Our Identity in Christ
We say we believe in God but who, actually, is He? What are the names God uses to describe Himself in the Bible? Names tell us much about who God is. This teaching is an important foundation upon which we can build our realtionship with God and our understanding of Him. We also get to learn about who God says we are. What has Jesus actually done for us. What is our true identity and who, really, are we?
The Father Heart of God
God is our Father and we are loved by Him. He is the very foundation of love in our lives. We study Him, and explore God’s love for us. Forgiveness is a big part of this teaching too.
Hearing God’s Voice
Can God realy speak to me? About only big things or can it be small things too? But how does He speak, and how can we learn to hear His voice?
Relationships
We will learn about how God created us to live in healthy relationships both with Him and with one another. We also study God’s plan for how we relate to members of the opposite sex, both in friendship and romantic relationships. We study what the Bible has to say about marriage, sex and healthy family life. We look at different personality types and see how they can affect the way we relate to each other.
Holy Spirit
Who is the Holy Spirit? How can we live our everyday lives in connection with Him? What are the “gifts of the Spirit”?… a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit can transform our Christian life!
A Disciple’s Prayer Life
What is the power of prayer? How can we have prayer meetings that are alive and interesting? Find out about God’s intention for intercession in our lives.
The Good News
What, really, is the Gospel? Is it good news?! We need to understand it so that we can share it!
Worship
How can we live a life of worship and praise to God? What does that mean? What is “real” worship?
Evangelism
Here we will get inspiring and challenging teaching about evangelism. God’s love reaches far – to all peoples – and that means not only to us “Christians”!
God’s Word
What is the “authority” of the Bible? How can we study the Bible in a way that is “alive” – “living and active”? Here we learn about the Bible, what it is, how we got it, and what God’s will and purpose for the different books within it are.
Mission
Right from Genesis to Revelation we see God’s heart for all the peoples of the earth. His longing is that His name will be known by all people groups. You will get a Biblical foundation for missions, together with solid practical methods for communicating the whole message of the Gospel in a foreign culture in a way that bears fruit.
God’s “Calling” and Following His Will
How can we have a living relationship with God and take hold of the calling He has put upon our lives?
During the DTS lecture phase we will also spend some time preparing for the outreach. Part of this preparation will be via practical teaching in the classroom, but we will also have a “mini-outreach”:
Mini-outreach
The school will split up in to teams and go to different places in Norway to visit churches, youth groups and get a taste of “serving”. Before we go out there will be teaching and training, learning dramas and being creative in ways we can share the Gospel with people.
How to share the Good News
There are many and varied challenges which we face when we go out to share the Gospel in a different country. The culture differences can be a challenge, so we spend time teaching about this and preparing ourselves to communicate in the most effective ways.
