About
Skjærgårdsheimen is a vibrant centre for missions situated on the beautiful coastline of southern Norway. On these pages you can read more about what’s going on here at the centre and the projects we are involved with both here and around the world. You are very welcome to join our schools and other activities!
Skjærgårdsheimen center is located on the idyllic island of Flekkeroy about 13 km outside Kristiansand in the south of Norway. The place has had various owners since it was built in 1903, but was bought by Youth With A Mission in the summer of 1994. Since then the whole center has been renovated and has expanded its facilities as well as its ministries.
YWAM’s work in the southern part of Norway was started by Geir and Elin Fagerbakke in 1989. They were leading the center until the spring of 2000, when the leadership position was handed over to Ståle and Marianne Braseth. Today the center has approx. 25 workers and 30 missionaries.
Since 1994 about 700 people have been students at the various schools that have been run at this center. Every September we start our six month DTS (Discipleship Training School) and every spring other Univeristy of the Nations courses are being held. The PCYM (Principles of Child and Youth Ministries), the SOIWSW (School of Intercession, Worship and Spiritual Warfare), the IECS (Introduction to Ethno-Linguistics and Cultural Studies) and the IBC (Introduction to Biblical Counselling) have been offered as some of our training programs.
